Make Your Own Video Game at Urban Arts

Urban Arts is opening up 3 levels of our FREE game design after-school program for your students (which also include meals, etc.) 

 

Programs include:

 

AFTER-SCHOOL GAME DESIGN:

  • WHAT: Perfect for students starting out! We offer a fun-filled program where students learn to use digital art tools and code in C# to make their own video game in the Unity engine, offered 1x or 2x weekly.

  • WHO: 9th-11th graders who want to learn to design and code games

  • WHERE: In-person at Urban Arts (near Union Square), or virtually on Discord

  • HOW: As the first step in our application process, students can register for an info session to learn more!



PORTFOLIO CREATION (PLAY LAB):

  • WHAT: Play Lab is a 1x weekly game development course with a focus on experimentation and exploration. Students will concept and prototype games, develop their voice, and build a set of portfolio pieces.

  • WHO: 10th-12th graders with experience coding in C# and building games in Unity

  • WHERE: In-person at Urban Arts, near Union Square

  • HOW: Apply for Play Lab!

 

STUDIO:

  • WHAT: Studio is our upper-level game development course, where Students form self-directed studios to divide roles and responsibilities, design and develop a digital game with the Unity engine. Studio students will receive college access support and opportunities to work with college-level and industry mentors.

  • WHO: 11th-12th graders with experience coding in C# and building games in Unity

  • WHERE: One day in-person at Urban Arts (near Union Square) and one day virtually on Discord

  • HOW: Apply for Studio!
